A useful all-round performance by Marvin Bobb coupled by a fine 46 from Ceion Smith handed Avengers a seven-wicket victory over Success Youths when the 592 beer/icool water 10/10 softball competition continued last Sunday at Malteenoes Sports Club.
Success Youths batted first and were bowled out for 92 off 9.2 overs. Mahendra Seepersaud made 31 and Michael Salikram 28; Marvin Bobb picked up 4-19 and Ajay Persaud 2-23. Avengers responded with 94-3 off 8.2 overs. Smith’s knock led the chase while Bobb assisted with 22; Raj Narine had 3-21.
EC All Stars beat Avengers by 25 runs. EC All Stars scored 105 in 10 overs, taking first strike. Travis Alphonso made 34 and Suraj Boodoo 27. Marvin Bobb took 3-14 Deshon Andre 3-24. Avengers were sent packing for 80 in 9.2 overs in reply. Ceion Smith made 24 while Bobb contributed 20 as Karamchand Persaud grabbed a helmet-trick (four wickets in four balls) to finish with 4-10 from two overs, while Gary Singh had 2-15.
Farm XI went down to Avengers by one wicket. Farm XI posted 105-8, taking first strike with Ameer Khan scoring 56; Ajay Persaud snared 3-21 and Marvin Bobb 2-14. Avengers replied with 108-9 in 9.4 overs. Chatram Somwaru made 38 and Ceion Smith 35; Ricky Sergeant had 3-23 and Khan 2-22.
Speed Boat beat Farm XI by 11 runs. Speed Boat made 114-9, batting first. Anand Bharat scored 44, R. Adams 19, W. Sundar 16 and K. Joseph 15; Ameer Khan claimed 2-7. Farm XI scored 103 all out in 9.4 overs in reply. Ajay Kishan made 34, C. Seymour 29, D. Singh 21 and R. Reddy 12. Greg Singh, Travis Drakes, Anand Bharat and Safraz Esau claimed two wickets each.
United Brothers defeated Low Land CC by 53 runs. United Brothers took first strike and managed 123-6. Quazim Yusuf slammed 55 while Daniel Scott 23, Leon Fazal 17 and Sunil Rajbance 12; Vishal Premdass had 3-25. Low Land CC responded with 70 all out in 8.3 overs. Rahul Ramesh struck 35 as Gary Singh bagged 5-10 off two overs while Karamchand Persaud had 2-20.
United Brothers beat Farm XI by six wickets. Farm XI batted first and scored 129-3. Ricky Sergeant stroked 83, while Kesho Ramsaran made 35; R. Pades had 2-18.
United Brothers replied with 130-4. Shazh Rover hammered 55 while David Narine made 27; Ameer Khan took 2-18.
