As part of the U.S. commitment to bolster the abilities of Guyana’s security forces to improve citizen security, Deputy Chief of Mission Mark Cullinane recently presented radio communication equipment valued at over US$700,000 to the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
The US Embassy said the gift is part of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative.
The grant provided extensive training for the equipment that included radio transmitters, antennas, and high-power amplifiers, all intended to improve the GDF’s maritime counter-piracy and drug interdiction capabilities. Colonel Trevor Bowman, Inspector General, accepted the equipment donation on behalf of the GDF.
