DEAR EDITOR,
I read with much consternation in the Sunday’s edition of your fine daily Jagdeo’s plan to once again stir up and divide the country even more with his planned countrywide protest.
This person is so obsessed with power and the acquisition of same, that he is willing to risk the all be it tenuous peace of our country just to get his way.
I am tempted to use quite unflattering words to describe this individual but decorum dictates against doing so, not to mention those terms may very well not make it to print.
One would have to be from the dark side of the moon not to know that these activities planned and carried out by Jagdeo will only further widen the simmering racial divide.
He is well aware of this, but obviously cares not, with his only goal being to get his way regardless of the disastrous consequences.
This person, it seems is bent on twisting Guyana’s collective arm to the point of dislocating our shaky peace.
It reminds one of the age old school yard cricket game, if I cannot get to bat even after the courts say I cannot and will not be President again, then I’m leaving with my ball. In this case, the consequence can be even more disastrous.
It is quite clear that Jadgeo is a very sore loser, an angry person who will and must get his way regardless of the cost or price.
His gripe among so many others was the perceived Government delays in appointing a CEO of the Election Commission, this was done all be it with quite some back and forth, give and take on both sides as it should be, compromise seems to be a bad word in Guyana.
Not without some confusion, a majority of the Commissioners on both sides arrived at a tentative month for the upcoming elections, next March 2020 but despite the fact that this tentative time line was decided by both PPP and Government appointed Commission members, Lord Jagdeo will organise countrywide opposition to this decision.
In some countries starting with our neighbour to the west, Venezuela, this unpatriotic excuse would be up on charges same as the self appointed President of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, is looking at, in his case it’s treason.
Jadgeo should have been arrested a long time ago and made to answer to the litany of unanswered and unexplained irregularities during his tenure as President. His present efforts at destabilization demands no less, they are unpatriotic and aimed at getting his way at the expense of our country. President Granger should take note of Maduro’s decision in relation to Guaido.
Maybe Jadgeo cannot or refuses to remember 1963 but I can’t, like so many others, having dodged a bomb just minutes before it was thrown into my home and exploded with destructive consequences.
Respectfully,
Claudeston Massiah
