DEAR EDITOR,
We wish to take this time to extend a warm welcome to all at the University of Guyana. To our graduating class, new and old students, we welcome you all. To our hardworking staff, who at times go beyond the call of duty to ensure their classes are equipped with the necessities to become successful, we say welcome.
We wish to extend a warm welcome to the guys at maintenance. These hardworking gentlemen do ensure that the mics, lights and projectors are always available and working for each class and building, a sure mammoth task. And while we do acknowledge that there can be some shortcomings to this end, we do say thank you for the equipment that are maintained and works to our benefit.
To our administration, we welcome you also. We look forward to a year of vision and clear policies that inevitably will benefit the students. We trust your hard work ‘behind the scenes’ won’t go unnoticed. We also request that the area of sports (outside of athletics) is given the much needed attention it deserves. The Students’ Action Movement (SAM) would be interested in providing assistance in this area. SAM also will be looking forward for your support and assistance in advancing and approving its many projects in and around campus.
To the various groups on campus, we also welcome you. We wish you nothing but a fulfilling academic year. We do endeavor to work in collaboration with your groups on all our projects and have that same energy reciprocated. We encourage all to support each other’s fundraiser, as we know this can go a long way.
Lastly, we welcome the most important asset to the University of Guyana – the students. SAM looks forward to your continued support. We encourage all to partake in meaningful action that would result in bringing to fruition any desired change you’d wish to see, that will affect the University positively. We encourage all to form a voice in effecting that change. SAM will also like to express its gratitude to all who would’ve taken the time out to read this letter.
