A team from the Alliance For Change (AFC) on Friday met with executive members of the Private Sector Commission (PSC).
The AFC team described the meeting as cordial and encouraging with a broad range of topics discussed.
“The primary purpose of the meeting was to seek the PSC’s input on a range of initiatives which the AFC is committed to further developing and pursuing,” AFC said in a statement.
At the meeting, AFC said it reiterated its commitment to private sector development as means of creating jobs and opportunities for Guyanese people, and its willingness to work collaboratively with the Private Sector Commission for the achievement of common objectives.
“The meeting also discussed the current political situation in Guyana with the AFC repeating its stated position that it wished to see elections held as early as possible, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining public confidence in the process.”
The AFC also acknowledged in the meeting that a prolonged delay in the holding of elections would negatively impact business and investment in Guyana.
Both organizations, according to the statement, agreed to continue their engagement.
