In sweltering heat at the famous Georgetown Cricket Club Ground Bourda, the home team hammered Blairmont Cricket Club of West Bank Berbice by 272 runs on a flat track and heavy outfield yesterday in a feature 40-over U-16 match.
Player-of-the-match Dominic Roberts was delightful in his innings of 83 which was decorated with eight fours and a six. Roberts put on 97 for the first wicket with Thadius Lovell who reached the boundary once and cleared it on one occasion as GCC amassed 333-9.
Avaryau Persaud 23, Dindyal 17 and Rahul Singh 16 also got into double figures. Zaahid Baksh had 4-48 for Blairmont and was support by Sheerdat Roopnarine who captured 2-25 and Zeynul Ramsammy (2-35).
In response, Blairmont were sent packing for a paltry 61 after being 44-9. Doing the damage with the ball for GCC were Persaud (2-3) and Dindyal (2-8). Blairmont, which produced Test players Roy Fredricks and Brandon Best, will host the City in a return fixture.
