The 2019 edition of the Senior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championships hits off this morning with the Guyanese being in the thick of the men’s singles round-of-32 action with current under-17 Caribbean Champion Shomari Wiltshire, who is just 15-years-old in his third senior competition, matching skills with Tahjia Lumley at 09:00hrs at the National Racquet Center on Woolford Avenue.
Over at the Georgetown Club Courts on Camp Street, Guyana’s Richard Chin will be pitted against Brandon De Montrichard of Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) at 09:40hrs before Nicholas Naraine challenges Joe Chapman of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) at 10:20hrs. Deje Dias will try to get past Cameron Stafford of BVI on court three of the Georgetown Club at 09:40hrs.
Damien DaSilva plays Barbados’ Bryant Cumberbatch at 10:20hrs at the Georgetown Club Court one just before National Champion Jason-Ray Khalil takes on Zaki Williams of Barbados in that same court at 11:00hrs.
The athletes will return to the courts from 18:00hrs for round-of-16 action this afternoon.
From today to the Saturday August 24, the Guyana Squash Association (GSA) will host Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago for the Senior Caribbean Championships.
The venues will be the Georgetown Club on Camp Street and the National Racquet Centre at Woolford Avenue.
