The Guyanese players started out on a good note at the CAREBACO Junior Under-19 International Championship which is being played at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium in St. Michael Barbados August 15-18.
Thursday 15th of August in the opening rounds the Guyanese players reached the Quarterfinals with Tyrese Jeffrey and Priyanna Ramdhani in Singles, Doubles & Mixed Doubles and Akili Haynes in Doubles.
The Results on the opening day are:
Men Singles:
Round 2-Tyrese Jeffrey of Guyana defeated Pedro Aguilar Gonzalez of Panama in a three setter: 21-17, 18-21, 21-15
Round 1-Akili Haynes of Guyana lost to Kennie King of Barbados: 18-21, 12-21
Mixed Doubles:
Round 1-Priyanna Ramdhani & Tyrese Jeffrey defeated Dejaun Williams & Zharia Hinds of Trinidad: 21-10, 21-8
The tournament continues yesterday with the Quarterfinal Matches and concludes tomorrow.
