The Commander ‘A’ Division of the Guyana Police Force five-a-side Football Tournament for Youth Groups in the division began on July 15 at the National Gymnasium but due to a power outage the Boys Final and the entire Girls tournament had to be completed yesterday at the same venue.
In yesterday’s Boy’s final, East Ruimveldt, led by Skipper Travis Anthony, enjoyed most of the play and good passing. Mark Cameron and Brandon Solomon, urged on by their vocal supporters beat Albouystown 2-1 as Azandei King scored the consolation goal for the losers.
In the Girls final Mocha defeated East Ruimveldt 1-nil thanks to a crafty Goal from the Tournament’s MVP and Mocha’s Captain, Kellyann Niles.
The MVP in the Boys division was Albouystown’s Delon Niles who is of no relation to Kellyann Niles.
Sargent Fredericka Roach, who coordinated the well organised tournament, said she was satisfied with the competition which was well attended and included pulsating music from the Sound System and meals for the teams and officials.
She was assisted by other staff members of the GFP.
