Two ding dong battles are slated for tonight as the preliminary round of the Divine Entertainment Summer Super Cup football championship nears its end with a double header as Net Rockers and Blueberry United clash in the first game from 19.00hrs and the second will showcase the top seed Eagles United against Coomacka from 21.00hrs at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.
Interest is rife because all four teams are in with a chance of advancing. Eagles United are up against Coomacka after both sides defeated Topp XX in their Group A matches and the winning team tonight is assured of the one semifinal place available.
The other game brings together Blueberry Hill and Rockers who were both held to draws when they played the other team in their group, Amelia’s Ward Panthers, and a win will give them a semifinal slot in this inaugural championship.
However, a draw will see all three teams’ level and goal difference will decide the winner of this Group B playoff.
At the same time a draw in the first game could also see goal difference being the determining factor so all teams involved tonight are hoping to win their game outright in open play and get a safe passage to the final four.
