DEAR EDITOR,
This is a land of confusion, led by a man with a confused mind. The contradictory statements by President Granger tax the most reasonable minds to stay calm in the face of what appears to be outright dishonesty by the holder of the highest office.
This is not an issue broached lightly nor for scoring cheap political point. A ‘confused mind’ of a President is a problem of the most serious nature and deserves to be examined as they are grounds for removal from office.
On the 4th July he said: ”It was also agreed that the exchange of names, or this submission of names, will include also suggestions which the President presented for inclusion on that list. I said it was up to the Leader of the Opposition to submit the names of persons who had already been submitted on the previous three lists.”
Then on the 12th July he said “It is unfortunate that, despite the meetings between the two sides, the Leader of the Opposition rejected the idea of acting in a consensual manner. He chose to put forward candidates for the post who have been rejected previously.” Both statements were made on NCN television and are available on social media for review.
The confused nature of President Granger’s mind also surfaced publicly when he failed to see what he had ‘done wrong’ after the CCJ ruled he violated the Constitution in making a unilateral appointment for the position of GECOM Chairman. Now President Granger wants to submit names to Jagdeo for re-submission to himself. Who thinks this is sane behaviour?
“Guyanese, the Constitution of Guyana is sacrosanct and supreme” but the Cabinet will not resign; I have no doubt that President Granger will attempt to pass new legislation and even hold a Budget debate without the consent of the Speaker if needs be; and for all of this, there are those that are cheering on President Granger’s behaviour as that of a ‘Machiavelli’. This is not Machiavellian; these are symptoms of Dementia and require sympathy and medical care.
I do not believe that David Arthur Granger wants to be remembered for the latest series of ‘contradictory’ statements.
The people surrounding him need to take heed and offer his legacy protection if warranted. Dementia is a very painful thing for families to accept and for it to be this public can only add to that suffering.
Sober thought and care for David Granger the man, needs to be put before the needs of his political partners, who seek to make further use of his name to prolong their hold on power. Urgent action is needed.
Family needs to do the right thing. Let the man go into posterity as a ‘Lion King’, much longer and the possibility exists that he will forever be remembered as something else.
Respectfully,
Robin Singh
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
