The Nand Persaud Group of Companies which boasts a number of subsidiaries, has begun attracting sponsors for their Sprint Classic Horse Race Meet. The event which is slated for Sunday August 11th at the Company’s racing facility, No36 Village, Macedonia Estate, Corentyne, Berbice, is being promoted by the Company Sky Plus Incorporated Promotion Group.
So far major sponsors are Ansa Mc Al Group of Companies through its Stag Beer Brand and Trophy Stall along with a number of subsidiaries of the Nand Persaud Group including Nand Persaud and Company Limited, NPG Packaging and Plastics Inc., Sky Plus, NPIC Communications, Nand Persaud Green Power Solutions, Flexotech Inc., Nand Persaud Foundation Inc., Amazonia Rice Incorporated and Plastic Incorporated.
The seven-race card, dubbed the “Nand Persaud Karibee Sprint Classic” has over $4M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs. Boasting the only horseracing facility where the horses run in a straight line from start to finish, the races will be run over 880 and 660 yards.
The feature event will be for horses classified E and lower over 880 yards or 4 furlongs for a winning purse of $300,000 and trophy. There is an event for 2 year old animals for a winning take of $150,000 and trophy over 660 yards.
The event for animals classified J and lower is for a take home prize of $150,000 and trophy. There is an event for K and lower animals for a winning take of $140,000 and trophy. There are three L class races, one for male horses and another for female animals, while the other L class event will see the non-earners from the other two L class races competing.
