Dear Editor,
I told myself that I would not get involved in politics in Guyana, but this nonsense of defending the Lands and Surveys against charges of corruption, is raising a lot of eyebrows about Adam Harris’s ability to resist the ‘is me child, and I do not care whether he right or wrong, but nobody ain’t touching him’ mentality that has Guyana mired in the mess that it is in.
The damn Lands and Surveys is corrupt, period. It has been involved in corruption for a long time. It is no different from the rest of Guyana.
Guyana is a criminalised state – over 80 percent of the population is involved in criminal activity – from bribery, forgery, race baiting (yes, this is a criminal offence), robbing people on their weights, and these are a few of the non–violent ones.
It is easy to prove the corruption: 1. Are these people who were allocated these lands using them (most are not –go up the Linden Highway and see the jungle that it is, but all the land has been given out for ‘farming’). You want a piece of land Harris? I know of several persons that are selling theirs – US$3000.00 per acre.
I applied for a piece of land for farming. First, my application disappeared; then I reapplied.
My application was acknowledged, and I was told nothing was available at the moment, but if I am interested, I can visit the Linden office. Another head of another government department told me that everybody needs motivation. I guess their salary is not enough.
Adam Harris is doing the same thing that Dr. Hinds is doing – they do not want to see the PNC lose power and are prepared to smother their sense of right and wrong to achieve this end. Come on, Adam, rise above the basic instincts, and have the guts to call a spade a spade.
If President Granger wants me to tell him about corruption, let him set up a website like Jagdeo (and yes Adam, I am the same person who had referred to Jagdeo, as Jagdeo Baba), or he can invite people who know about corruption to meet with him.
Guyana has lost its souls – don’t lose yours too, Mr. Harris.
Yours respectfully
Sultan Sattar
