The second annual ExxonMobil schools’ football tournament kicked off yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground with play in 10 of the scheduled 12 matches. The first game that was scheduled to be played between Lodge Secondary and Richard Ishmael has been rescheduled to this Tuesday, while Cummings Lodge gifted Golden Grove Secondary a walkover victory.
2018 champions, Chase Academic Foundation are not part of this year’s tournament and focus will be on St. John’s College who thrashed Kingston Secondary 7-0 to record the biggest margin of victory for the day.
St. Mary’s also recorded a commanding 5-1 victory over Annandale Secondary that has been one of the more competitive teams in recent years.
Completing the winners’ row were Marian Academy who beat President’s College 2-0, Tutorial High School also won 2-0 and Campbellville Secondary made light work of Ann’s Grove 3-1, while Carmel needled Uitvlugt.
St. Stanislaus College drew with Queenstown 0-0 and a 1-1 result was that of the North Ruimveldt versus St. John’s Bosco clash.
