On a rain affected day Deshanna Skeete with 30 points and Russell Payton who gained 28 points turned in outstanding performances to
lead Mackenzie High School to a 324-238 win over arch rivals Christianburg Wismar Secondary Multi’ School when the two secondary giants met in the first ever Team McNeil/ Cameron Independence Day track and field Clash at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground last Sunday, in what promises to be an annual bragging rights meet.
The two schools undoubtedly the top at track and field over the years, came to head where both schools were handed appearance fees of $100,000 and a smart television, while
the top performers were handed trophies and medals.
At the end of the day’s activities Mackenzie High left with the right to brag for at least the next year.
Among those who witnessed the clash were former athletes from Mackenzie High Michael Goodluck and for the ‘Multi’ School Sandra Baird, who reminisced on their years at the two educational institutions who both received $100,000 and a 50″ smart television.
Apart from Skeete and Payton the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School’s Shaqua Tyrell with 28 points and Tristan Clarke with up 25 points were the next best performers at the meet.
Regional Member of Parliament Audwin Rutherford and AAG President Aubrey Hutson were among those who witnessed the day’s activities.
