There will be increased police presence for the upcoming Carnival Season, as the Guyana Police Force welcomed 151 new ranks on Tuesday.
Graduates from the three Police Training Colleges– Felix Austin Police Training College, Georgetown; Richard Fikal Police Training College, Essequibo Coast; and Felix Austin Police Training College, Adventure Berbice.
All were neatly dressed in their uniforms as they as they stood at the Tactical Services Unit drill square.
With the upcoming carnival season there is going to be a lot of foreign nationals, as well as overseas-based Guyanese coming back home. Accidents are bound to happen, and what can go wrong will go wrong, the force administrator said.
Ranks were advised to put what they have learned into practice as they were exposed to various academic as well as physical training over the last 10 months.
Court sessions were attended. They also underwent first-aid training. Other courses that they benefitted from inclusive of anger management, domestic violence, crime and firearm training under instructors at the Tactical
Services Unit.
All of this comes in the wake of a previous comment from Deputy Commissioner Paul Williams. He said, “With this new generation, we have equipped ourselves to really and truly give the service that Guyana needs.”
He assured that whatever new the country is faced with, the force will meet the demand.
“In the past and likewise now the force is capable to deal with whatever this era brings. The GPF is capable enough to handle it.”

In attendance were the various commissioners and other senior officials of the force.
