Police have detained two suspects and are on the hunt for a third man in connection with last Sunday’s gunning down of truck driver Peron Nicholas Bobb and the abduction of a miner on the Kuribrong Trail, Potaro River.
The two men have reportedly given police conflicting statements about the incident. However, reports indicate
that Bobb, of Carabese Hill, Bartica, was shot in the stomach by a group of men that he had seen stripping spares from a truck.
Police said that the killers abducted another man who was in Bobb’s truck and reportedly saw when the driver was shot. However, the man managed to escape and is reportedly assisting police with their investigation.
It is alleged that Bobb and a miner were shuttling dredging equipment in the Kuribrong Backdam when they saw a truck heading towards them. Bobb allegedly stopped to allow the other truck to pass when the men shot him.
The slain man’s body has been taken to the Bartica Hospital mortuary and a post mortem is expected today.
