A 42-year-old father of six of Number 56 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, is now dead. He reportedly collapsed on board the fishing vessel on which he ventured out into Surinamese waters with colleagues on April 1.
Dead is Deolall Sooklall who left his home earlier this month to ply his daily trade of fishing.
Reports state that the man reportedly fell ill on board the vessel and shortly after collapsed on Thursday.
His colleagues after attempting to revive the man, realised he was not breathing and subsequently decided to return to Guyana.
After they returned, the fishermen who were on the boat with Sooklall took him to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His family was also contacted.
