Guyanese yesterday again feasted their eyes on the model homes on display at the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s (CH&PA) new housing scheme in Prospect East Bank Demerara.
Throughout the weekend the CH&PA hosted an open house exhibition for potential home owners.
Some of the houses on show were also furnished to give viewers an idea of what the ideal home would look like.
Housing contractors were on site to answer questions about the homes. Many gave positive feedback about the model homes and expressed a desire to purchase structures like the ones displayed.
According to CH&PA, more than fifty percent of Guyanese are applying for house lots within the low- income bracket and to provide for those applicants the Agency will collaborate with a number of Private Developers to make that possible.
The houses on display are all flat houses measuring 400 square feet. There are single and duplex houses currently available.
They feature two standard size bedrooms, bath and washroom area, kitchen and living room space and a small patio which stands on a plot of land measuring 40 by 80 feet.
The prices for the homes range from $4M, $6M and $9M. Moreover, CH&PA has indicated that in the near future, they will move beyond single units and duplexes and add condominiums to the housing developments.
