Paul De Nobrega of Team Evolution emerged as the winner of the 27th edition of the R&R International sponsored 40-mile Road Race which was held yesterday on the West Demerara.
Jacob Rambarran was on hand to send the 24-cyclists on their way from the Demerara Harbour Bridge, they continued to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to the starting line for the finish.
De Nobrega won the event in a time of One Hour 37 Minutes 48.60 Seconds and was followed to the line by Geron Williams, Briton John, Andre Green, Deeraj Garbaran and Kemuel Moses in that order.
Taking most of the sprint prizes was Stephano Husbands (5), while Green took two and Garbarran, one.
The Junior winner was Sherwin Sampson, while the Mountain Bike category went to Hector Edwards. Copping the Veterans category was Alexis Mendes ahead of Lyn Murray and Leer Nunes.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the 27th edition of the National Park Meet took place, both events were organized by Hassan Mohamed M.S. Following are the results of Saturday’s National Park Meet.
