A fine all-round performance by Nokta Moses together with a decent knock at the top of the order by Zameer Zaman handed Sans Souci Jaguars a 39-run win over Good Success in the second semi final of
the Badri Prasad Memorial T20 tournament in Wakenaam last Sunday.
Sans Souci Jaguars will take on arch-rivals Sans Souci in the final on a date to be announced.
Batting first at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, Sans Souci Jaguars lost opener Safraz Mohamed lbw to Imran Khan without scoring in the first over before Moses and Zaman repaired the early damage with a second wicket stand of 90.
The duo played aggressively as they accumulated runs on both sides of the pitch without much hiccups. Zaman struck four fours and three sixes before he was caught off Mahase Ramnarine for 48, while Moses, who was also dismissed by teenager Ramnarine, clobbered four fours and three sixes in a top score off 59.
Following their departure, Good Success managed to restrict their opponents with some tidy bowling as spinner Bumeshwar Ramkissoon uprooted the stumps of Satrohan Shiwnandan for six and trapped Derwin Daniels lbw for one. Gurnauth Khemraj removed skipper Siddiq Mohmed for six before Ramkissoon collected two more scalps to finish with 4-17 as Sans Souci Jaguars managed 168-8. Ramnarine had 2-36.
Good Success were off a terrible start as pacer Derwin Daniels bowled Ramnarine without scoring, while Charles Benjamin (00) was run out to leave the score at 0-2. Khemraj (01) was then bowled by Vickey Jairam before Imran Khan (02) was caught off Zaman as Good Success slipped into further trouble.
However, Tulsieram Ramadeen and Ramkissoon steadied the chase fairly with a fifth wicket partnership of 82. Ramadeen was the aggressor in their union while
Ramkissoon rotated the strike well. The right-handed Ramadeen slammed six fours and two maximums before he was caught off Mohamed for 57, while Ramkissoon was run out for 22. Their dismissals virtually signaled the end of the chase despite Shoaib Namaz belting three fours and a six in scoring 22. Good Success ended on 129-8. Moses claimed 2-31.
