Coaches Forbes Daniels and Nandkishore Andrews have teamed up once again in an effort to hone the skills of the young cricketers in Essequibo. The duo has organised an U15 50-over fixture between Wakenaam and Essequibo Coast which is set for Wednesday at the Affiance number one ground on the Essequibo Coast.
The coaches are loud in praise for Windies all-rounder Keemo Paul, who is a product of these games and wished him well in his career.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, Coach Daniels said that while there is a lot of talent in the county, the players need to be given an opportunity to develop and as such he and Andrews thought it best to organise these games.
He added that many players who are representing Essequibo would have played at the junior level under their guidance.
Daniels stated that in order for Essequibo to continue producing talented cricketers, much emphasis must be placed at the grassroots level since it is at this stage where stars are born. He is calling on the business community to support the youths and the parents to assist in molding the players into well-rounded individuals from a young age.
Andrews indicated that he is happy that they are able to stage these games which will contribute meaningfully towards the nurturing of the young talent in the county. He said the players are all excited to showcase their talent and a return fixture is in the making.
Andrews stated that these games will not only help in the growth of the game in Essequibo, but will also serve to motivate the players. He has expressed gratitude to Paul and the Wakenaam NDC for their assistance.
The players set to represent Essequibo Coast in this fixture are asked to be at the number one ground for 08:00hrs on Wednesday. Those short-listed are; Avick Ramdyal, Rajendra Ramballie, Narindra Pall, Jousha Taylor, Aryan Doodnauth, Shasif Mohammed, Keyshaf Deonarine, Deo Khanhai, Shawn Dawson, Pamesh Semangal, Benny Persaud, Govinda Toolsie, Royden Morris, Govin Persaud and Abdool Nadir.
