A West Berbice truck driver was killed at a Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara yesterday after losing control.
According to police, the accident occurred at Airy Hall when the sand-laden lorry was unable to negotiate a turn.
Dead is 39-year-old Travis Isaacs, of Tempe Village, West Coast Berbice. He was said to be driving the lorry, GWW 6018.
Police said that the lorry was heading east, with its tray filled with sand. It was taking the right bend when it ended up on the eastern side of the road, in the water. There were three persons in the truck at the time.
All three, including Isaacs, were injured and rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital.
Isaacs was pronounced dead while Akeem McPherson and Kurtis Elliott, both 20, of Plantation Ross, West Berbice, were treated and sent home.
