The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) began its calendar of activities on Sunday last with a Cross Country event along the inner track of the National Park. The event saw a total six clubs participating, namely:
1. Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS)
2. De Challengers Athletic Club (DCAC)
3. Running Brave Athletic Club (RBAC)
4. Police Progressive Youth Club (PPYC)
5. New Amsterdam United (NWU)
6. Super Upcoming Runners (SUR)
It was deemed as a successful event which saw many athletes participating in the various categories which were youth, junior and senior with a special event that was held for athletes 12-14 years-old and sprinters.
The top three (3) winners in each category are as follows:-
Youth Boys (3 km)
1. Murphy Nash – CWSS
2. Cordel Charles – SUR
3. Calvin Williams – NAU
Youth Girls (3 km)
1. Sheama Tyrell – CWSS
2. Aaiyliah Headley – DCAC
3. Tia Azore – CWSS
Sprinters (4 km)
1. Shemar Alleyne – SUR
2. Emanuel Paul – SUR
Junior Boys (6 km)
1. Daniel Harvey – RBAC
2. Daniel Mc Carter – RBAC
3. Murphy Bagot – NAU
Senior Men (8 km)
1. Anfernee Headecker – PPYC
2. Royston Fordyce – PPYC
3. Francis King – SUR
12-14 years Girls (2 km)
1. Adriel Austin – RBAC
2. Atoya Harvey – RBAC
3. Charissa December – DCAC
12-14 years Boys (2 km)
1. Jonathan Seedath – DCAC
2. Seon Booker – DCAC
3. Trimmel Bishop – RBAC
The next Cross Country is scheduled for this Sunday at the Bayrock Community Centre Ground Linden and in Esplanade Ground New Amsterdam Berbice both commencing at 15:00 hours.
