While businessman Narendra Lucknauth was enjoying himself at a staff party, burglars were busy spoiling his Christmas.
Narendra Lucknauth, the managing director of clean water essential supply Inc told this publication that he arrived home around 11:42 hrs last Saturday at his Eccles residence after attending a staff party.
Lucknauth said that, when he entered his living room, he immediately realized that his 60-inch flat screen television was missing.
Upon further investigation, he observed a quantity of household appliances, as well as all his foreign liquor missing.
The thieves also escaped with a quantity of jewellery along with his 20-year-old son’s suitcases and passport. He estimated his losses at over $3.5M in cash and household appliances.
The young man, who is an American citizen, arrived in Guyana last Friday to spend Christmas with his family.
“It would be great if the thieves can drop off my son’s passport and other documents so that he can go back,” Lucknauth lamented.
The thieves also went into three bedrooms, where they removed off an estimated $500,000 in jewellery.
The businessman added that, on realizing that his home was broken into, he went into the kitchen where he saw the grill to one of his windows partially removed , while someone had drilled a hole in a wall.
It was at this point that he decided to report the matter to the Providence Police Station.
Tthe matter is currently being investigated.
