An accident at De Kinderen Public Road, West Coast Demerara yesterday took the life of 26-year-old mother of one and caused minor injuries to two passengers.
Dead is the driver of the BMW motor car, Nkasi Mc Kend, of 45 Stewartville, W.C.D. while passengers, Mario Desa, McKend’s boyfriend and owner of the car, and Caleb Morrison, a friend of the couple received minor injuries.
Mc Kend was reportedly employed at the Guyana Lottery Company.
This publication understands that the accident occurred around 5:00 am and involved motorcar PRR 4153. Mc Kend was proceeding west along the southern side of the road, heading in the direction of Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
The car was reportedly being driven at a fast rate when Mc Kend attempted to negotiate a right turn and lost control of the vehicle.
The car subsequently crashed into a fence, then landed upside-down into a bushy swamped area on the western side of the said road.
The body of the now dead woman was removed from the vehicle in an unconscious state and carried to the Leonora Cottage Hospital by police. She was pronounced dead on arrival.
The two other passengers received treatment and were discharged.
Mc Kend was said to have suffered severe injuries to her head and about her body. Her lifeless body remains at the Ezekiel Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the matter are on-going.
