Former APNU/AFC Councillor Carol Smith-Joseph of West Coast Berbice and opposition Member of Parliament, Harry Gill, yesterday appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court to answer a charge of common assault.
According to the facts of the case Joseph on November 7, last, assaulted Gill so as to cause actual bodily harm. The MP was slapped with a common assault charge committed on Joseph the same day.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges read to them before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh and were granted self-bail.
Joseph was represented by Attorney-at-law James Bond and Darren Wade while Attorney Ian Anamayah represented Gill.
They are set to return on February 6, 2019.
