Vice President of the Futsal Association of Trinidad & Tobago, Mr. Nigel Roberts, recently donated a quantity of Fifa approved Futsal balls for the GFF-ExxonMobil International Futsal Festival set for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall December 27 to 30.
Roberts, who is MA Referee Instructor for Futsal & Beach Soccer in T&T and was also the Referees Assessor at the Concacaf Futsal Club Championship in Honduras in 2017, presented the balls recently to Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, one half of the Kashif & Shanghai Organising duo, whose organisation has been tasked with organising the event by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).
The four-day festival will kick off with six matches which will be played between the hours of
18:00hrs and 00:00hrs with each match being played on the hour culminating with the final match at 23:00hrs.
The other international teams participating in the festival include Morvant Caledonia United from Trinidad and Tobago, a Suriname side and a São Paulo selection from Brazil. The locally participating teams are an East Coast All-Stars, Linden All-Stars, Georgetown All-Stars and West Demerara All Stars.
The winning team will pocket $1.2 million, while the losing finalist will receive half that amount. Third and fourth-placed finishers will pocket $300,000 and $100,000 respectively.
