Young Warriors Cricket Club on Sunday last advanced to their third successive First Division Final after making a return to the level earlier this year. They easily defended Albion Community Centre Cricket Club in the second round, to draw the BYE into the Final of the Ivan Madray 100 Balls Tournament which is being sponsored by the Madray and Chintamani families in memory of the late West Indies Test Player. Powerhouse Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets crushed Rose Hall Canje Cricket Club by nine wickets to advance to the lone semifinal where they would face Tucber Park Cricket Club.
At the Albion Ground, Young Warriors Cricket Club struggled to score quickly against the home team all spin bowling attack. They lost National Youth opener Alex Algoo bowled by left arm spinner Gourav for 12 while fellow opener Vishal Mohabir was also bowled by off spinner Mahendra Chaitnarine for 05. Young Warriors Cricket Club were eventually bowled out for 13 from 98 Balls with former Guyana Under-19 allrounder Linden Austin, Mortimer Fraser 14 and Ishwar Singh 13 being the principal scorers. Bowling for Albion Community Centre, Beesham Surujnarine and Sharaz Ramcharran both took two wickets in an impressive bowling and fielding display.
In reply Albion found themselves in deep trouble as left arm medium pacer Devindra Ramoutar claimed two wickets in two balls and then dismissed a careless Kandasammy Surujnarine as they slipped to 14 for 4. They never recovered and were eventually dismissed for 67 from 13.5 Overs with only Surujnarine and Devendra Latchman 22 reaching double figures. Ramoutar 5 for 9 and fellow medium pacer Suresh Dhanai 2 for 9 were the impressive bowlers for the visitors.
In the second match at the venue, Rose Hall Canje Cricket Club were bundled out for 48 as Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets continued to dominate the 2019 First Division Season. No Rose Hall Canje batsman reached double figures as left arm Berbice Under-19 spinner Keith Simpson claimed 4 for 7 and received support from offspinners Junior Sinclair 2 for 8 and Eon Hooper 2 for 8. Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets lost opener Kevin Sinclair caught at extra cover off the bowling of impressive Under-15 fast bowler Isaiah Thorne for 11. Junior Sinclair 18 not out and Vidal Crandon 13 not out then led their team to an easy nine wicket victory as they ended on 50 for 1 from 42 Balls.
The lone semifinal and the final would be played on Sunday 23rd December, 2018, at the Port Mourant Ground. Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets and Tucber Park Cricket Club would clash at 09.30 hours, with the winner facing Young Warriors Cricket Club in the Final from 13:30hours.
