Round two of the KFC Goodwill Cup which is being competed amongst four school teams, inclusive of the Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers league winners; Annandale Secondary, runners up,
Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS) and region nine’s Annai Secondary along with Shiva’s Boys’ Hindu College of Trinidad & Tobago, continues tonight at the Ministry of Education (MoE) ground on Carifesta Avenue.
This evening’s play that will hear its first whistle at 17:00hrs for the first match of a double header which will see Linden’s CWSS matching skills Annai Secondary of South Rupununi. Before points leaders Shiva’s Hindu College clash with Annandale in the feature clash at 19:00hrs.
CWSS are second on the table with two points after overcoming 2-2 draw after full and extra time to eventually win via kicks from the penalty spot against Annandale.
Annandale and Annai who lost to the lads from T&T will both be looking to register a win tonight but they won’t find it easy.
CWSS were unlucky to lose the School league after playing unbeaten and they have signaled intent to achieve nothing less than championship honours in this competition.
The KFC goodwill tournament features the four school teams battling for the KFC Cup in a round-robin format over three days but the organisers, Petra Organisation, in a press release yesterday, noted some changes to the rules of the tournament which are as follows:
1. If at the end of regulation time the game is tied, penalty kicks will be taken immediately. Each team will be allowed five kicks and if at the end of the 5 kicks the game is still tied, sudden-death kicks will be taken.
2. Each winner at the end of regulation time will be awarded three (3) points and in cases of a win by penalty kicks the team will be awarded two (2) points. No point will be awarded for a loss.
