The inagural Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club Banks Beer 100-ball tournament is set for an exciting cliamx tomorrow when Enmore A take on Lusignan.
The competition commenced in October and featured 19 teams from the East Coast of Demerara in a new format. There were some exciting cricket played in the preliminaries which produced three centuries and four five-wicket hauls.
The Krishna Deosarran led Lusignan A include Steve Ramdass and Rajendra Naikarran, while the Enmore A is being spearheaded by Bheemraj Ramkelawan and contain Amir Khan and Rudolph Singh. These players have been in fine form recently and al lot is expected from them. Lusignan B will take on Fairfield SC in the third place game from 09:00hrs. Off field entertainment will be provided by One Man Band, while there will also be a domino competition.
Both teams earned their berth in the final following victories in their respective semi final games which was contested recently.
Lusignan A got the better of Lusignan B by 59 runs at the Lusignan ground. Batting first Lusignan A racked up 141 for 6 from their 100 deliveries. Steven Ramdas scored 60 and Gavin Boodwah 25. A. Singh took 4-13. In reply, Lusignan B were dismissed for 84 in the final over. S. Alli made 26; Rajendra Naikbarran bagged 6-5 runs from 2.2 overs; the best figures in the competition so far.
In the second semifinal game which was played at Enmore, Enmore A batted first and scored 145-5. Amir Khan got 39, while Bheemraj Ramkelawan and Vishwanauth Ramlakhan contributed 22 apiece. Richard Chatura took 3-33. In reply Fairfield SC were restricted to 113-9. M. Shaw scored 19; Satash Jainarine and Ranjeet Hiralall took two wickets each for 22 and 23 runs respectively. The final will commence at 13:00hrs.
