The sound of the siren of the ambulance taking patients to the Supenaam Ferry Stelling, and at times the speedboat stelling, to be taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, has become all too familiar.
It is certainly time that the Ministry of Public Health does an upgrade of the Suddie Public Hospital and/or, has more experienced and qualified doctors placed there. Over the years that institution has had the number of doctors increased, but the quality of service – apart from the foot care clinic and the ophthalmology department – remains the same.
The public have been travelling regular to the city to seek medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital and other private medical institutions. The only increase we have is the amount of trips the ambulance makes to Georgetown and referral of patients to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
