A contractor of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, is thankful to have recovered items stolen from his car after police were able to track down the suspected ‘trunkers’ and retrieve items the thieves had abandoned after a high speed chase.
After retiring to bed Tuesday night, the contractor was alerted by neighbours that men in a black car had broken into his car and removed some items. When the man ventured out, he discovered that an amplifier, a Pioneer tape deck and a crossover were missing from his car.
The matter was reported, and based on the description given, the vehicle was spotted by ranks of a police patrol on La Parfaite Harmonie Public Road, West Bank Demerara. The lawmen in an attempt to apprehend the suspects were led on a high-speed chase, which saw the thieves’ car ending up stuck in a drain and the occupants abandoning the vehicle and fleeing.
The area was searched, but the suspects were not found. However, a search of the black Toyota Allion, with registration plates PSS 3701, revealed all of the stolen articles.
The vehicle is presently lodged at the Leonora Police Station, while police are trying to determine who the owner is, with the intention of apprehending the suspects.
