Play in the ongoing GT Beer/ Candy Boss and Antics promotion 8-a-side football tournament continued on Sunday at the All Saints Scott Church Ground, Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam with one game.
The encounter, which was played under lights, saw Monedderlust of West Berbice taking Soccer City to task with a 5-0 drubbing.
The one sided affair saw Monedderlust leading 3-0 at half time with goals from Kevin Fyfee in the 11th minute, Sceon Watts in the 17th minute and Jamal McDonald in the 26th minutes. Arieo Watts added one in the 47th. A 20 minute stoppage due to malfunctioning lights on one side of the field held up play but at the resumption Paul McDonald banged home another in the 72nd minute for the 5-0 rout.
The competition is expected to continue on Friday with Mahaica Determinators taking on No5.
The final is set for January 5 at the same venue with the winner taking home $600,000, the runner up $300,000 and the third place finisher taking home $200,000. (Samuel Whyte)
