The inaugural Race of Champions Horse Racing meet organised by the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee was held last Sunday at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
The event saw Just call Me Bass’ of The Jagdeo Stable showing who is boss with a blistering run down the homestretch to take the feature C and lower event as it enacted revenge on Vera’s
Finally. With the veteran jockey Paul Delph on the hunch the animal bid it’s time to squeeze past front runner Princess She’s Not to win the $1M and trophy in the 1300M event. Princess She’s Not roared in second ahead of Lucky Star. It was the second defeat for Vera’s Finally both times by Just Call Me Bass and both times at the Port Mourant Turf Club and on both occasions Princess She Not finished second after dominating most of the race.
The F class 1500M event was won by Release the Beast of the Jumbo Jet Racing Stables with Colin Ross piloting the animal home ahead of Keep on Swinging, Good Will Boy and Crown the King. The win was worth $400,000 and trophy.
Colin Ross was again in the winner’s enclosure this time abode Keep on Swinging in the H1 and Lower as the animal romped home ahead of Not This Time and Silver and Things for the $300,000 top prize and trophy.
Is She Perfect of the Mahaicony racing Stable ridden by Appdhu rode a perfect race in its first outing to win the race for 2-year-old Guyana bred animals ahead of Valentina, Awesome Banner and Ebony Prince.
The ‘I’ and Lower race was won by Chamalie with Kevin Paul abode ahead of Not this Time, Ready to Romance and Kentucky.
Party Time had a good time in winning the J1 race with Red Region, Mary Ann and Jungle Prince being left in the dark.
Massapequa Dr was too good for its opponents in the K-Class race as it defeated Byron, Touch Down and Gold Again.
Catch a Glimpse with jockey Colin Ross in the stirrups took first place in the L-Class event for Colts and Geldings as it out maneuvered Art of Gold, Uprising and Touch Gold.
It was all Colin Ross on the perch as in the event for L3 year and lower fillies and mares with Feeona as it outclassed Touch of Class and Secret Flyer.
Catch a Glimpse with the inform Jockey Colin Ross on the mount caught more than a glimpse as it won the L-Class event ahead of Feeona, Ready to be Talk About and Red Weasel.
The Jumbo Jet Stable was the top entity on show. Ross with five wins was the Champion Jockey.
The champion Trainer was Junior Mohammed.
