Convicted child rapist, Esmond Slowe was yesterday found guilty of raping a 14-year-old girl, by a 12-member mixed jury. The verdict was in the proportion 11-1.
Slowe engaged in sexual penetration with the minor on December 16, 2016. The offence occurred in the County of Demerara. He is said to be in his late 30s.
Slowe is to return to court next week Friday, December 14, for sentencing and the presentation of a probation report and victim impact statement.
Slowe was represented by Attorney Maxwell McKay, while the case for the State was presented by Prosecutors Abigail Gibbs and Seeta Bishundial.
The trial was heard before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the High Court in Georgetown.
