Imam Bacchus Sports Club defeated Reliance Hustlers by 53 runs to win the final of the Central Essequibo T20 tournament recently at New opportunity Corps ground.
Imam Bacchus Sports Club took first strike and managed 105 all out in 15 overs. Latchman Rohit and Yougeshwar Lall made 16 each, while extras contributed 22. Medium pacer Sedeshwar Shivamber grabbed 4-18 and Narendra Madholall had 2-11.
Reliance Hustlers fell for 51 in reply. Rohit bagged 4-9, Parmesh Parsotam 3-9, Lallbachan Narine 2-10 and Punraj Singh 2-14.
The finalists received a trophy each and cash incentives, while Rohit was named man-of-the-match and also collected the trophy for being adjudged the best batsman in the final. Shivamber took the best bowler prize, while Neiland Cadogan and Travis Simon received the awards for scoring the most runs and taking the most wickets in the competition respectively; Cadogan was named the tournament’s MVP.
