Yesterday de Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. Dat is a holiday dat bigger than Christmas in de United States. People does drive, ketch plane or travel by train fuh hundreds of miles to be wid some family.
And dem does bake a big turkey. If dem is Americans, dem guh have boil potato, bake potato, corn, Mac and cheese and things like dat. If dem is Guyanese who live in America, dem gon cook all kind of food but de biggest must have rice.
Whether you is American or Guyanese, dem must have nuff likker. People does drink till dem can’t drink no more. And de celebration is not only fuh dem who live in America. Dem boys notice de Americans does celebrate Thanksgiving wherever dem live. Is just like Guyanese. No matter wheh dem go, dem does celebrate Christmas. And no matter what dem must have food and nuff likker.
De Waterfalls boss man live next door to an American who really put a lot into Thanksgiving. He spend it wid some friends.
Just about midnight, de man go home drunk as a fish. He start fuh knock pon de door. He must be knock fuh two hours but nobody ain’t answering. De big problem is dat de man live alone. De Waterfalls boss man couldn’t tek de knocking suh he go over to de man and tell him dat he ain’t deh home.
But dem boys seh boss man wicked. He know de man is he neighbor; he know de man live alone so when de man start knocking is only he could answer heself.
Anyhow, dem boys hear when de Waterfalls boss man tell de American dat he ain’t deh home. Right away, de man seh ‘Thank you’ lef and go away. Dem boys want fuh know when he ketch heself and realize wha he do, wha he gon tell he neighbor…and he know he neighbor got a newspaper.
Talk half and watch how you drinking.
