The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) continues to create history after securing another sponsorship for cricket in the area. This is for a new Under-19 Tournament and is sponsored by Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Market Street, Port Mourant Branch. The newest of branches which will be opened in January, 2019 and will serve the Berbice community with quality tokens for sports such as uniforms, trophies, medals, plaques, printing and many other related services, something that is seriously lacking in the Ancient County.
The tournament will be round robin, consisting of 6 teams and will commence on Saturday November 24, 2018.
At a simple but significant presentation ceremony held recently at the new Port Mourant Office, which is in its final stage of preparation for opening, Mr. Vicky Bharosay, former Treasurer of the UCCA and Berbice Cricket Board thanked Mr. Sunich and his company, Trophy Stall for firstly opening a branch at Port Mourant, a village that arguably produced the most test cricketers in the world and for coming on board with the Association. He promised that the tournament will be of high standard with intention to ‘blood’ players for the first division team, Berbice, Guyana and Windies.
Ramesh Sunich in response, said that he follows the work of the Association and is impressed with the standard of cricket administration. He also mentioned that he is pleased to be associated with the UCCA and is happy to be on board. He further said that he feels privileged to be the sponsor of this tournament and to give opportunities to our young cricketers. He added that he is happy to provide a service to the Berbice communities.
