Imam Bacchus Sports Club and Reliance Hustlers will clash in the final of the Central Essequibo T20 competition on Sunday after recording victories in their respective semi final games played on Sunday last.
Battling at the Imam Bacchus Sports Club in Affiance, the home team defeated Reliance Sports Club by 66 runs. Winning the toss and batting, Imam Bacchus SC rattled up a challenging 188-9 from their 20 overs.
Parmeshwar Persaud struck a top score of 52 (2×4 2×6), former national youth player Nathan Persaud made 33 (3×4 1×6) and Navindra Persaud contributed 30 (3×4 2×6). Bowling for Reliance Sports Club Off-spinner D. Dhaniram claimed 4-22 and Cecil Shivambar 2-8.
In reply, Reliance Sports Club mustered 122-7 when their overs expired. Jamal Wilson slammed 41 94×4 1×6) while Elroy Stephney made 20 (2×4). Navendra Persaud picked up 2 for 15.
At Reliance ground, the host overcame Queenstown Sports Club by 48 runs. Batting first after winning the toss, Reliance Hustlers recovered from 65-6 to post 152-8, thanks to Captain Travis Simon who hit an attacking 42 (6×4 2×6).
Keron Boodram got 21 (3×4) as Akil Wallace grabbed 3-20 from four overs while Randy Bridgemohan had 2-26 from his four overs. In reply Queenstown SC were bowled out for 104 in 16 overs. Herell Green scored 35 (5×4) and Mitchel Etwaroo 15. Off-spinner Narendra Madholall bagged 5-22 from four overs. The final will be played at New Opportunity Corps ground.
