Newly elected President of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF), Levi Nedd, left the country yesterday to attend a meeting of The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (International Volleyball Federation), FIVB which is being held in Mexico.
Nedd, who was elected President of the GVF when that body held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, hadn’t taken over long from long serving executive John Flores who did not seek election. Nedd hadn’t much time to settle in his new position before flying out to represent the country at the world body executive meeting.
However, the experienced campaigner with over 42 years of service in the game of volleyball both as a player, rising to the level of national captain and an official at all levels, is expected to represent the country well.
He is expected to lobby for more support for Guyana, both financially and in the technical field which should bring tremendous benefit to Guyana.
The FIVB is the international governing body for the sports of indoor, beach, grass volleyball and slapball.
The conference is expected to end on the 17th. (Samuel Whyte)
