The Region Six Department of Education hosted a one-day Literacy and Numeracy fair, recently. The event which was themed “Literacy and Numeracy build life skills” was to promote and improve Literacy and Numeracy within the region.
Teachers from across the region were invited to attend and observe the teaching and learning aids displayed, so as to capture ideas and take back to the classrooms.
As teachers and pupils arrived at the Rose Hall Town Primary School, they were greeted by a vast display of Literacy and Numeracy aids and materials. Several booths were set up and were managed by members of the Literacy and Numeracy Committee.
The presentations captured learners’ interest and level allowing them to learn in an interactive way.
The Numeracy materials displayed were provided by teachers from various Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools across the region while the Literacy Materials were provided by the Literacy Committee of Region six.
Literacy Coordinator, Ms. Vanessa Williams, stated that the event was a success. She was satisfied with the presentations.
“The booths were never out of schools viewing and interacting. We had a full day,” said Williams.
