Guyana is among several Caribbean countries with manufacturing sectors that are being promoted in the United States and Canada in the current edition of the magazine, Caribbean Business and Travel.
The publication, which has a special section on business opportunities available to grow the Caribbean manufacturing sector, features Presidents of five Manufacturing Associations – Shyam Nokta of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association [GMSA], Trinidadian Christopher Alcazar [TTMA], Jamaican Metry Seaga [JMA], Barbadian Robert Noel [BMA] and St. Lucian Marguerite Desir [SMA].
Barbados-based Caribbean Export also highlights investment opportunities in the region’s manufacturing sector and St. Lucia-based Baron Foods is featured as the Caribbean success story.
Among the areas identified by the manufacturing sector leaders are several agri-business projects, including chocolate manufacturing, hot sauces, spices and other condiments, food items derived from coconut and sweet potatoes, medicinal products from herbs, beverages including canned juices, and alcohol products.
The Caribbean associations are also keen on attracting investment to boost furniture manufacturing, including for the Caribbean hospitality sector. There is also interest in increasing packaging facilities, the production of leather and clay products, soaps, lotions and creams, pharmaceutical products and petrochemical manufacturing, as well as energy projects.
Several countries are also interested in expanding designer apparel products and setting up garment factories.
Caribbean Business and Travel is produced by Florida-based Carigold Signature, a marketing, communications and training Group, headed by Chief Executive Consultant, Sandra Ann Baptiste. The magazine identifies investment and trade opportunities in the Caribbean and encourages travel to the region.
St. Lucia’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, who is the featured “Signature Interview”, provides an overview of the St. Lucian economy, highlights the performance of key sectors, lays out his vision for the short and medium term, and identifies investment opportunities available.
The Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization [CTO], Hugh Riley, provides an insight into key tourism issues, including the new marketing campaign, and the President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association [CHTA], Patricia Affonso Dass, shares her vision for improving and expanding the region’s hospitality sector.
The travel section of the magazine focuses on some of the top Health and Wellness locations in the region and showcases several tourism events.
Caribbean Business and Travel is distributed at business events with a focus on the Caribbean, to US and Canadian business organisations, companies and entrepreneurs, as well as Diaspora leaders. Among the business events promoted in the current edition is the March 2019 Outsource to the Caribbean Conference in Curaçao.
The magazine was recently provided to the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in Toronto and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, among others. It was also distributed at the recent annual Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit (CHICOS) in Bermuda.
Carigold Signature also produces the biennial Caribbean Tourism and Hospitality Investment Guide for the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
