High Court Judge Jo Ann Barlow will on November 27, pass sentence on 38-year-old Dhanraj Persaud, who was convicted yesterday by a jury for engaging in sexual penetration with a child.
Persaud, called, ‘Rakesh’, who was represented by Attorney-at-Law Maxwell McKay, had denied committing the act. The jury, however, found that on October 23, 2013, he engaged in sexual penetration of a 15-year-old girl.
The convict was remanded to prison pending sentencing after his lawyer requested a probation report be presented to the court. Also to be presented are a plea in mitigation and victim impact statement.
The case for the State was presented by Prosecutors Tiffini Lyken and Seeta Bishundial.
