Following a come from behind victory against Mocha Arcadia in the second semifinal last evening at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue, 2017 Champions, West Ruimveldt will defend their title in the final next week Saturday.
Mocha’s Jiheam Lewis gave the champs an early scare when he fired his school ahead in the fourth minute of the 20-minute per-half encounter but a second half equaliser by Mark Philips from a corner set-piece and an extra-time screamer from West’s Skipper Jonathan Andries, ensured the West will have another chance to prove that they are the best come Saturday.
Ruimveldt will clash with St. Pius who looked from the early stages of the competition as a definite title threat. St. Pius won the first semifinal of the day 1-0. They needled the much disciplined in defence Tucville thanks to Jamal Fraser with a well taken shot from just outside the box, one minute from added time.
Following the match, Fraser noted to the media that all the praise should go to his teammates because it was their cohesion that allowed the win against the stiff Tucville side.
The final and third place playoff will kick off this Saturday at the same MOE venue.
