One day after Special Prosecutor Attorney-at-Law Dexter Todd disclosed that he is having difficulties getting two civilians, who are witnesses in the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of Jason De Florimonte, to attend court, a police officer yesterday testified in the matter.
Police Corporal Winston Singh recalled taking a caution statement from Erwin Bacchus, who is on remand for the murder of De Florimonte.
He was called to the stand at the continuation of the PI which is being conducted before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The witness added that he also uplifted the post mortem report of De Florimonte; hence both documents were tendered in court as part of the Prosecution case. Bacchus, 45, of Fifth Avenue, Subryanville, Georgetown and the owner of the Subryanville Hotel is currently on remand for the August 4, 2018 killing.
The matter was then adjourned until November 19 for continuation.
Jason De Florimonte, 30, of 96 Fifth Avenue, Subryanville, was shot several times after he allegedly attacked Bacchus with a rolling pin and knife. Lawyers representing Bacchus are Attorneys-at-Law Glenn Hanoman and Nigel Hughes.
Bacchus was initially charged with manslaughter in relation to the unlawful killing of De Florimonte and released on $1.5M bail. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) later upgraded the charge to murder.
