Former Pele FC and National mid-fielder Charles ‘Puggy’ Joseph, who died on October 18, aged 59, will buried today in Manchester Village Corentyne Berbice.
The Ex Footballer lived in Princess Street and Captained Pele at the U-16 level and under Coach Lennox Arthur, led Pele FC to youth titles from 1974-1976 before playing in Pele’s division one team in late 70’s
Puggy Charles left to play for the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) before migrating to Berbice.
Arthur yesterday extended condolences to the wife and children of Charles, on behalf of the Pele club, which was formed on July 18, 1971, its President Alistair Parris, Members and former players who played with the late Footballer in 1970s and early 80s.
Arthur said Charles was a decent and honest man. “When I first started the Mayor’s Football tournament I would go to Berbice to get the flyers done. Puggy was one of the best graphic artists which he did with his hands,” said Coach Arthur. (Sean Devers)
