DEAR EDITOR,
The drama playing out on the international stage regarding the murder of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi seems to be getting increasingly intriguing.
Already, there is growing tension between Saudi Arabia and Turkey on what really transpired. Turkey has indicated that it will make public what actually transpired which is at odds with the Saudi version.
The United States is caught in the middle. Not wanting to antagonize a key ally, it is also not unmindful of the condemnation of other nations including Britain and France, both of whom have already issued strong statements of condemnation.
The Saudi Arabian Kingdom is now under pressure to come clean on the matter. There is strong evidence of complicity between key government officials in the murder of the US journalist.
The Press Association of Guyana is still to issue a statement in condemnation of this savage killing of Mr. Khashoggi. This does not bode well in terms of concern and solidarity for a fellow journalist who died under bizarre and gruesome circumstances.
The murder of a journalist must be condemned, especially by those who cherish the ideals of press freedom.
