In an article we published on Tuesday, last, entitled “Krystal Sukra admitted to the Guyana Bar”, there were several errors that were brought to our attention, and which we would like to acknowledge and correct.
Firstly, it was stated that Ms. Sukra attended Queen’s College when in fact she attended The Bishops’ High School; it was also stated that she has a degree in International Relations, but the fact is that she did one year of International Relations as a pre-law course and finished that one year with distinction.
Ms. Sukra participated in the CCJ VIII International Law Mooting Competition at her undergraduate studies (while she was studying law) at the University of Guyana, and not the Hugh Wooding Law School as was expressed in the article; and Ms. Sukra was misquoted by the writer who stated “Caribbean Criminal Court of Justice” when in fact she said, the Caribbean Court of Justice (”CCJ”).
As a consequence of the publication of this article, it is obvious that the aforementioned errors would have caused undue embarrassment and created misconceptions, and for this we offer an apology to Ms. Sukra and anyone else who may have been affected as a result.
