Relatives of the 37-year-old midwife say they suspect foul play, after the woman was found dead yesterday in her Kwakwani Park, Region Ten home.
Paulette Wade, who worked at the Kwakwani Hospital, was found motionless and unresponsive around 06:30 hrs by her seven-year old daughter.
Kaieteur News understands that the child, accompanied by a nine-year-old friend, ran to the Kwakwani Hospital, some 200 metres away and informed some of her mother’s colleagues.
While police reportedly found no marks of violence or evidence of break in at the property, a close relative alleged that the body bore what appeared to be scratches and other injuries.
According to the relative, Wade was laying face-up, her hands were above her head and he saw what appeared to be scratches on her elbows, breasts and neck. There was blood coming from her mouth and her eyes seemed puffy.
The relative dismissed suggestions, reportedly made by the police, that Paulette Wade suffered from epilepsy.
According to the relative, Wade’s daughter said she woke up some time Friday night and heard sounds which suggested that her mother was having a scuffle with someone. She heard her mother calling out someone by the name of ‘Delon.’
The relative stated that when he arrived, there were already three police ranks on the scene. Another team of ranks arrived later.
He complained that none of the ranks, who were in plainclothes, identified themselves or gave the family any information.
Relatives of the dead woman are appealing for information that would reveal the circumstances regarding her demise.
